Wine and Walnuts

A blog about eating, drinking, cooking and reading in the not so Deep South

Absence

Absence image

I visited the place where we last met.
Nothing was changed, the gardens were well-tended,
The fountains sprayed their usual steady jet;
There was no sign that anything had ended
And nothing to instruct me to forget.

(from the poem “Absence,” by Elizabeth Jennings)

So, what the heck does it mean?

Well, I’ve been away from Wine & Walnuts for well over a month, so this excerpt from one of my favorite poems seemed appropriate.

And I wanted to post something, some little tidbit, to announce that I haven’t gone away for good. Nope, it’s way more pedestrian than that.

I’ve simply been nose to the grindstone working three part-time jobs, to the tune of 60 hours/7 days per week, for the last couple of months. Which is a grind, but necessary for the short term.

So while I attempt to adjust to this schedule, blog posts will be a little less regular.  Just briefly, though.

Because, very soon, I’ll be BAAAACCCKKKK.  I’m about to free up about 20 hours a week in my schedule, specifically so I can come back here, to Wine & Walnuts.  And to food and wine and cooking and eating and drinking, and writing about it. Can’t wait.  : )

That is all. For now.

Welcome back, and I’m always reading even if I don’t comment often. :)

  4. Hey Benito! Long time, my friend! Thanks for continuing to be a reader. : )
That’s all I’ve been on my other fave blogs, like yours, for months and months now — just a reader. For some reason I’ve dropped off commenting on blogs altogether. But I’m feeling a big burst of energy to be back in the food and wine blogosphere, including commenting again, coming on . . . . : )

  5. Just discovered @wineandwalnuts. What a wonderful blog! May want to use some of your content (Down & Dirty Wine Basics) to educate our customers, giving you full credit, of course.

Also thinking of ways to collaborate–to educate & improve our lives & those of our friends & customers!

Sorry you have to work so much right now. Will be following you here & @wineandwalnuts.

Thanks for such a great blog!
