Whiskey Creek Sports Pub: Get Your Burger On

In case you’ve never heard of Whiskey Creek – I hadn’t – it’s on Masonboro Loop Road in the old Heck of a Peck Oyster Bar location.  Weird, because I drive by this place four or five days a week, and I’ve never noticed it.

A friend of mine dragged me out here last Saturday night, when I didn’t really want to go.  But in the end, I was glad I did. It’s friendly and inviting, the bartenders are nice – a real plus — and the food is good – and cheap. I don’t normally enjoy a sports bar that much, but I liked the feel and atmosphere here a bunch.  It turned out to be a low-key spot for two girlfriends to go on a Saturday night, drink some beer, eat a burger, and have some fun.

And speaking of the burgers, they are g-o-o-d here – an inch thick and hand-pattied, they come with cheese for $6.95, or without for just $5.95.  Choose fries, onion rings, tater tots or chips to go with, and you’ve got a delicious, rib-sticking meal for less than $7 bucks. My cheeseburger with fries and two Yeunglings set me back only about $13.

Other menu selections include cheesesteaks, grilled chicken sandwiches, Sloppy Joes, quesadillas, and veggie burgers. Or – I am not making this up – a peanut butter, bologna and cheese sandwich served on buttered bread.  Someone try that and let me know how it is.  ; )

For appetizers they have things like chicken wings, fried jalapenos, fried banana peppers, mozzarella cheese sticks, and homemade chips.

They have all ABC permits, and offer $3.75 well drinks and $2.25 domestic drafts.

I’ll definitely stop in here again for a burger and a beer.  And if you’re a girl, hey, this is a great place for you and your gal pals to go – unlike other sports bars I’ve been to, it’s a comfortable place for women to hang out in, and it wasn’t full of guys only.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.  ; )
